Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) has revolutionised the world in unprecedented ways. One cannot fathom a world without computers.
Children at Arjan Watumull Sindhu Vidya Bhavan School are therefore introduced to the world of digital technology at a very early age. The objective of bringing these children to the computer lab varies with age. The idea is to generate interest in computers beginning 1st standard. The degree of difficulty and exposure to other tools increases when the children graduate to higher classes. As a fundamental rule all students are familiarised with M S Office software. With each passing year students learn about higher order functions of the software. The elementary programming languages like QBASIC, C and C++ are introduced from 8th standard.
As a part of learning, teachers assign tasks to students that can be completed only in the computer labs. This ensures that students put their computer related knowledge to actual use. To make this possible, the school’s aptly designed computer lab is equipped with 30 computers with internet facility, a server and an overhead projector. These technologies are upgraded from time to time.
The school had inked a partnership with Intel Teach to Future group (supported by the Microsoft Corp.) in 2003. This has provided hands-on experience to the teachers and associated staff, adding value to the teaching and learning process, making it more interesting and effective.
